Best Floral Wines

Chelsea Flower Show is upon us, and I adore the blooms wreathed in scent. When it comes to wines, the most fragrant tend to be white grapes such as Gewürztraminer or Torrontés and while great paired with aromatic dishes, they can be rather full-on. For more poise among the petals, I’m recommending deft wines whose aromas entice rather than dominate.

Macerao Naranjo Orange Wine 2021 (13.5%), £8.99, Waitrose. Something different – orange blossom and lychee aromas with marmalade bite. Serve cold.

Villa Maria Earth Garden Organic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2020 (14%), £10.50, Tesco. Exotic and crisp, this vineyard has wildflowers among the vines.

Taste the Difference Brouilly Château de Pierreaux 2020 (14.5%), £14, Sainsbury’s. Fragrant and classy. Try a touch chilled with terrine or charcuterie.

Les Sorcières du Clos des Fées Blanc  2021 (13.5%), £16.95, yapp.co.uk. Amazingly aromatic, perfect in the garden with salads or a barbecue.
