Olly was back on an adventure for Travel Channel – Olly Smith Ale Trails Series 2. Quaffing his way across the United States of America in a quest for the very best ales each region has to offer, Olly’s thirst for new beer experiences sent him all the way from Colorado to Texas, from Arizona to Oregon and way out west to San Diego. Accompanying nibbles were not neglected – some great grub also got keen attention in between sups. Amazing stories, fascinating history, brilliant characters and sensational brews, it’s an encyclopaedia of beer that’s got something for everyone!
Colorado (ep 1)
From the Rocky Mountains to Denver. At Olly’s first stop he helps to make a summertime beer, the Nitro Dreamsicle based on an orange ice-lolly.
Arizona (ep 2)
Olly looks at how brewers are being inventive making beer with anything that grows. Including strawberries, watermelon and cactus!
Oregon (ep 3)
Olly is in Portland for the Oregon Brew Fest. Later he helps make beer marshmallows, covered in chocolate, and also visits a Benedictine Brewery.
Texas (ep 4)
In Houston, Olly makes a beer with some of his favourite ingredients – English apples, elderflower and honey, but will the locals like it?

Olly travels from Virginia City to Las Vegas via Tonopah and Rhyolite, exploring secrets of production and sampling beer – in the country where beer is an institution!
South Carolina
Olly visits the Brew Haha festival in Anderson and the Euphoria Festival in Greenville to experience the South Carolina craft beers. He learns all about the importance of yeast and draws on his vast wine experience to gauge comparisons.
Oregon
Oregon is regarded by beer connoisseurs as a must-visit state when it comes to US craft beers. It even has a state university dedicated to hops. Olly jumps in his mustang and joins in the hop picking in the Willamette Valley.
Georgia
While visiting Atlanta, Athens and Savannah, Olly Smith discovers Georgia’s passion for craft ales. He is joined by Ale Sharpton, a brewer and rapper who tells his own story of how becoming a master brewer changed his life.
Illinois
From the Windy City to the state capital, Olly Smith continues his Ale Trail. Starting in Chicago, Olly finds out how emigration has crafted the beer tastes of this great city. A visit to a full-blown Oktoberfest caps off his Illinois trail.
