Best wines for Barbecues
I love kicking off a BBQ with a fruity fizz such as sparkling Pecorino (an Italian grape, not the cheese). Pinks from Provence are delicious but buy from around Beziers for similar quality for a smaller price. In warmer weather try chilling a light red such as Beaujolais or an Argentinian Malbec for a beefier bottle. As for whites, look out for Italian bargains such as Vista Castelli Trebbiano d’Abruzzo at Tesco (£4).
Beaujolais AOP NV (12.5%), £5.50, Co-Op. Serve this light French red cool for the full refreshing crunchy cherry effect.
Specially Selected Côteaux de Béziers Rosé 2021 (12.5%), £6.99, Aldi. Scented and peachy, this elegant bottle is a gorgeous steal for a sunny feast.
Loved & Found Sparkling Pecorino NV (12%), £8.99, Waitrose. A fabulously fresh and fruity alternative to Prosecco – pour this bubbly brilliance now!
The Best Gran Montana Uco Valley Malbec 2020 (14%) £10, Morrisons. Intensely rich, this bold red is layered with delicious complexity.
